All children grow and develop at different rates across a wide spectrum of what is considered “normal” development. Consistent health supervision visits and check-ups throughout a child’s life are important opportunities to assess the health and function of both a child and his/her family.

Well Visit Schedule
At HealthPark Pediatrics, we follow the schedule of well visits as outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Regular well visits are the single most important things you can do for the long-term health of your child, so we encourage our families to follow the schedule below to the best of their abilities.

  • Newborn (1 week after delivery)
  • 3 Weeks
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 24 months (2 years)
  • Each year thereafter

We encourage patients to visit our office annually after the age of 2 for a well visit near the time of their birthday.

What to Expect
At each visit, we will conduct a thorough examination of your child and discuss any health issues in children that may be of concern. Our trained medical professionals will answer your questions and provide you with the resources and support to keep your kids as healthy as possible.

Your well-child visit will include:

  • An opportunity to address any concerns you have as a parent
  • A review of all relevant medical and social history
  • Physical exams to assess your child’s growth and health
  • Screenings and risk assessments that follow the ages and stages of your child’s development
  • Immunizations based on recommended schedule with parental authorization

During the first three years of life, our primary focus during well visits is to monitor each child’s growth and development, identify and treat developmental or medical problems, give routine childhood immunizations, and provide education and guidance to parents. Topics we commonly discuss include nutrition, sleep questions, speech development, toilet training, school readiness, sibling and family issues, as well as the normal developmental expectations for each stage of early childhood.

Beginning at age 3, your child will begin a comprehensive annual exam. In addition to medical problems and management, we explore how our patients are progressing in other important areas: at home, in school, and with friends.

During middle school and teenage years, we pay particular attention to each child’s academic progress, social development, and emotional adjustment.

Whenever possible, a parent should accompany a child under 18 years of age to well visits to facilitate first-hand communication between provider and parent, and to authorize the necessary immunizations.
